Pipe Stress Analysis

Pipe stress analysis is a type of analysis required for pipe design. Pipe design is mainly dependent on stress analysis. The impact of pipelines on operating piping systems can be dramatic and costly. A well-analyzed structure will be longer-lasting and lower cost. Ignoring the pipe’s weight and the effect of thermal expansion of the hot pipe can cause significant maintenance problems. Pipe stress engineers check process pipes and powerful pipes to evaluate routing, nozzle loads, and allowable pipe stress. There are many causes of pipe stress in a piping system. The most common is weight and thermal causes. These two reasons are also the most common cause of loads on equipment nozzles.

Importance of Pipe Stress Analysis

Different calculation methods have been developed for stress analysis in pipe circuits. These are simplified approximate computation methods and analytical computation methods. Simplified calculation methods are often used in the calculation of two-dimensional, i.e., Planar Systems. Approximate calculation methods have also been developed for a number of simple three-dimensional configurations. But in complex and especially branched systems, it is necessary to resort to the method of analytical calculation. Since this calculation method is very long and laborious, automated solutions are applied to this issue.

A pipeline is a complex structure exposed to the influence of additional external loads and the internal pressure of the fluid during Operation. The stresses that occur on Steam lines depend heavily on pipes’ design and the placement of pipe supports. So the creation of the pipe is mainly dependent on stress analysis. Because the differentiation of the design causes significantly different stress on pipes. Given the flow, stresses on the pipe have adverse effects on the steam line’s service life. These stresses need to be accurately identified and evaluated. Accordingly, pipe design must be analyzed by pipe stress engineers. As part of these analyses, it can be inferred about routing, whether the supports are correctly placed, and nozzle loads.
